(May 12,2010) ROX-Y MUSIC: On the Billboard Hot 100 dated May 11, 1991, Roxette earned its fourth No. 1, as "Joyride" motored 2-1. The Swedish pop duo had previously led with "The Look" and "Listen to Your Heart" in 1989 and "It Must Have Been Love" in 1990.
While Roxette hasn't recorded a new album since 2001 - the pair went on hiatus after Marie Fredriksson was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2002 - the twosome reunited last year on-stage on Per Gessle's European tour. Warmly received, Roxette is now planning a series of live dates.
"Both Marie and myself want a total live situation these days, no click tracks, no sequencers or computers on stage," says Gessle. "This is by far the best power pop combo we know. Lots of ad lib, great harmonies and silly jokes in the dressing rooms.
"Not long ago I was totally convinced there wouldn't be any more Roxette-shows ever, but Marie proved me wrong. I'm very grateful for that."
The Roxette revival extends to the studio, as a new album is due next year.
"Marie's vocals are terrific; I'm writing the poetry," says Gessle.
"We're looking at recording 16 tracks of pure elegance."
BADD BOYS: 19 years ago this week, Billboard's "New on the Charts" column shined the spotlight on a quartet of then-21-year-olds, Color Me Badd.
As the group jumped 20-12 on the Hot 100 with its debut hit, "I Wanna Sex You Up," from the "New Jack City" soundtrack," then-Giant Records head of urban A&R told Billboard of the label's new hip-hop signing, "There's a chemistry here. Add to that a great song, producer and act, and you have all the elements of perfect timing. That's the part of this business that no one can plan."
"I Wanna Sex You Up" would go on to peak at No. 2 on the Hot 100. The group would then score two No. 1s: "I Adore Mi Amor" in September 1991 and "All 4 Love" in 1992. It collected nine top 40 hits in all through 1996.
Color Me Badd split in 2000, with Sam Watters since maintaining the highest profile of the foursome. Not only has he produced tracks by such "American Idol" graduates as Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia and Blake Lewis, he also married one: first season finalist Tamyra Gray, in 2006. The couple is expecting its first child this July. "I'm just trying to take care of myself," a joyous Gray said recently. "This is way harder than 'Idol'."
'TOUCH'-Y SUBJECT: While Roxette reigned on the Hot 100 this week in 1991, two similar (yet opposite) songs placed back-to-back in the top 10: Cathy Dennis' "Touch Me (All Night Long)" and Divinyls' "I Touch Myself."
The same week, two then-future No. 1s entered the top 40: EMF's "Unbelievable" (43-32) and Paula Abdul's "Rush Rush," the chart's Hot Shot Debut at No. 36. Also new to the top 40 on the May 11, 1991, Hot 100 were two tracks that remain modern R&B classics: Luther Vandross' "Power of Love/Love Power" (42-33) and LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out" (46-39).

STOCKHOLM - After a great time in the Aerosol Grey Machine studio down in Skåne, and after a not-so-great time driving up to Stockholm due to the fact that all airports in Sweden are closed, The Daily Roxette has gotten hold of Per Gessle. Per says that the studio work goes awesomely and that they have a "killer album" on their hands. "Most things feel tremendous! We'll record 16 tracks, I think." On the question if the album will be out before Christmas Per responds: "We're taking a break over the summer, and we'll be done in October the way it seems now. But no, the album will likely be released in February 2011. And hopefully we'll pop out a single for X-mas. Oh and by the way, Marie's vocals are exceptional." |

The Norwegian newspaper Aftenbladet reported yesterday that Roxette will perform in Viste Strand pop festival in Stavanger August 21. The pop festival "Den store sommerfesten" ("The Big Summer Fest") is arranged for the fourth time. According to one of the organizers, Per Vervik, this will appeal to people throughout the Rogaland southern county as well as pop fans far beyond the country borders. He also points out that it will be an outdoor concert as well as the only Roxette performance in Norway. "Per Gessle knows what it takes to capture listeners' attention with his songs. In addition, Marie Fredriksson is a brilliant vocalist and together they have played themselves into people's minds", says Per Vervik to the journal. He continues to add that Roxette will go to Randaberg with a full band and full stage production, just as the other gigs in Sweden and Russia. 8000 tickets will go on sale Friday March 5 09.00 on www.billettservice.no and the cost is between 550NOK and 850 NOK (€68-105). The supporting act is Paperboys. Update: Roxette will also play in Denmark, at Smukfest, which takes place between 4th and 8th of August. That makes a total of five dates and according to d&d management that is all: August 8 - Skanderborg, Denmark
August 14 - Anderstorp, Sweden
August 21 - Stavanger, Norway

Roxette makes his first concert in Sweden for nine years.
In the summer Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle will play at Anderstorps Raceway in Småland.
- "It will be fun. They have not played in Sweden in a long time, "says Sofia Gynge, press officer at Ticket Now.
Those who are waiting for that good things come for a long time. The term applies to all Roxette fans that have passed, and waited for the Swedish super-duo to perform in Sweden again.
"Many who longed"
On 14 August, takes the stage at Anderstorps Raceway in Småland. It is Roxette's first concert in Sweden since 2001.
- We are proud to deliver concert tickets for Roxette fans and we expect both foreign and Swedish concert-goers, thanks to my situation in the south of Sweden. There are many who have longed for a real Roxette concert, so this has all the makings of this year's peak, "says Sofia Gynge in a statement.
Ticket release February 1
Tickets to the concert is released on Monday, 1 February at 09.00 at Biljettnu.se.
The price is 550 SEK and 950 SEK.
- The usual standing limits costs SEK 550 and the "Golden Circle" tickets ", are standing closest to the stage, costing 950 kronor. Three Crowns of the ticket price goes to the Foundation My Big Day," said Sofia Gynge.
The concert is organized by The Race Legends, which is a competition with Formula 1 legends for the benefit of SOS Children's Villages in South Africa. |

Roxette play in Sweden
Makes a comeback on the MOTOR RACE summer
Roxette has sold million albums.
Charts worldwide.
Now they make a comeback at home - in a Småland engine stadium.
- It feels absolutely fantastic, "says Per Gessle.
It is the engine contest The Race of Legends Anderstorp Raceway announcing the sensational nights exclusively for Amusement blade.
The event runs from June 13 and 15 August at a stadium with a capacity of 45 000 spectators.
- Roxette has not played in Sweden since 2001 and it feels absolutely fantastic to be on a Swedish stage again. Extra fun that takes place at Anderstorp Raceway, a motor court, I have visited, and actually hit, several times, "says Per Gessle in a statement.

- It is the first, and as it stands, the only appearance they make in Sweden this year. Roxette is an artist's dream for us. Per think it's really fun, he is very interested in the engine.

The Look - Roxette.The whole idea was about how Roxette,Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson wanted penetration internationally. But even if we in Sweden loved Roxette from the first moment it was non-existent interest abroad.
In addition to a magical feeling for pop songs, it took also a fracture and an assertive exchange student to spread Roxette's music over the world.
The program Roxette reunited in the studio where they recorded their breakthrough hit "The Look". In addition, we met people who were Per and Marie's dream to come true.

Next year plans Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson of Roxette give a real fresh start.
The idea is that both will be a new album and a concert tour. During the autumn, Per and Marie took part in the big tour, Night of the Proms, which ended a week ago. And after 42 concerts around Europe, where Per Gessle was writing new songs, he wants to Roxette to stand on its own feet again.
- This tour has given you a taste so ambition is to make clear a new album and I think it will be more concerts by Roxette. The band I had with me on my tour in the spring is probably the band we want to be Roxette. So I think there will be tours here and there, "says Per Gessle. Is Sweden on the concert map?
- It may be we'll see if it becomes a turn. Nothing is concrete yet, but had you asked the question six months ago, I had said that it was not up to date but now of course the door ajar.

We arrived in Munich more than 2 houres before the concert and got a good parking place very near of the entry of the VIPs.
We stood outside there just a few minutes when the bus arrived and all the "big Stars" from the Night of the Proms.
First Christina Stürmer steped out and we took some autographes from her for my little Marie.
She also took the time to make a very sweet photo together with her.
In the mean time a lot of other people from the stuff came out too. Than I saw Marie. I run to her and told her the best wishes from our website and our fans, that we are very happy that she feels so good to be back on stage again and give us the magic from Roxette again. She was very very happy to hear this all and send the best wishes back. She also told me that she loves our website a lot and thanks our fans for the support.
Than Per came out. He had hear our talking about the littlemarie.net, smiled and joked that he didn´t believe that by littlemarie.net work so little people- he meant me ´cause I´m not very high :)
It was really very sold, windy and icy that day and the security helped Marie to walk inside.
My husband was trying to make work is IPhone in the mean time, but we were not able to make a photo together with Marie, but we have one with Per.
I think the cold didn´t let work the camera of the IPhone.
I asked him to come where my kids and my husband stood too, to get a nice memory for my son too (the last time he was sleeping). We was very gently and again joking around about my tallness. About this we have a small videoclip, ´cause the handy of my husband was running :)
The concert was really great- from all the artists, but the part were tears ran about my face was by "The Look". Per was singing "she´s a miracle man" and
his hand signed to Marie. That was really really great.
It´s really a wonderful feeling when over 6000 people sing instanding ovation our favourite Roxette songs....
At the end of the concert, by the final my little Marie run down to the stage and got some picks of Per and was very very happy about this...
This sunday afternoon was already christmas for me......

If i think about Staffan Öfwerman, as a Roxette's fan, I can say he is a great musician,he's the younger brother of Clarence.He toured with Roxette in late 80's and early 90's. He's a great singer, keyboard player player and percussionist. He is married, and he has two children (Jackie, 1986 and Hampus, 1989) from an earlier relationship.
He have released some singles with his old band "The Breeze" (I still can recall : "Shine Your Love" ). But i know he has something really new under the sun. So let's go step by step. Hi Staffan! I let you introduce yourself... Hello there. I hope everything is great in your part of the world, since, here in Sweden, it's getting darker and colder everyday.
Maybe it's good in one way, since I can stay indoors working with some of the new things I'm up to. My new band Grand Pop Station is really taking up most of my spare time these days, since I'm very much involved in this. It's my own record label, it's recorded in my studio, I'm the recording engineer, the mixing engineer and I write most of the songs and lyrics as well. But the whole band is involved in the songs and they come up with their personal inputs, which is very good to have our own sound.
I'm also programming our new web site, delivering our new single to as many radio stations around the world as I can. Therefore I'm also building a very large database that I have made myself and it's a lot of work to be done, before it's complete. So, it is great if our fans around the world can help us with the contact e-mail to their local radio station, where they think our music might be played. A lot of stations already started playing it and it seems they like it, since some of them play it on A-rotation (which is a couple of times every week or maybe even a couple of times every day, I think).
So, now we hope people will buy our single, so we can afford to release more songs to all of you. And the new songs we have in the pipeline sounds really, really good. Just a few more words here and there that has to be written before it's ready.
Now,here comes the questions . Hope you have a good time answering them:
- Why you decided to change "The Breeze" name for "Grand Pop Statation" ?
When my friends heard some of my songs I've written and some of the old stuff, they said we should start a band and keep the old name from my old band. So, we started to write new material and tried some songs in the rehearsal studio. The old record company decided to re-release 3 of the old singles with The Breeze as digital downloads and people liked the old stuff. But all of a sudden a band from Holland wrote me and said they had been called The Breeze since the early 90's (and so did we in a way). But since we were a new band with new members, we decided to change the name instead.
We had a little competition on our web site, where fans could send us a new name and in the end we were voting for the best name. We had a lot of names to pick from and all of the band members voted, without knowing where the names came from. In the end Grand Pop Station won and the one who sent that name was our own keyboard player.
- Are new members on GPS or are you still the same guys who played in
the Breeze ?
The Breeze was a duo. It was me and an old friend called Gunnar Skoglund (Woodgroove). We played all the instruments ourselves and did only record songs. We never played live. So, this new band is something new and Gunnar is not in this band.
- How is to work with them (Per H,Robert W,Isak & Sonny F) ?
These are really great guys and soooo kind. They are great musicians and very funny people. We have a great time together.
- The new site of Grand Pop Stations looks great & very promising. Is it
finished or still under construction ?
Since I'm the one doing the web site and all other things right now, I decided to wait a little for the finishing touch. I might open up a couple of floors on the web site, so people will have as much fun as we in the band are having, when trying the site. Some people say, they don't wanna register to access the web site, but I hope it's worth it.
This is our home and home page. Do you invite strangers to your own home? I guess not, that's why people have to register, so we know who is in the house. And in the future this login will probably be used so people can meet inside the house as well. It's going to be a fun place.
- "Daddys Little Boy" is your brand new single, how did it born ? I mean
who wrote the lyrics and music ? Where the idea came from for this song ?
Actually this song was written by me in the old Breeze days. But when we had that band, we always put both names under a song. But this song I think I wrote everything on my own. I really don't remember where I got the idea from, but I think I wrote it pretty quick with the lyrics and sound all in my head.
- "Daddys Little Boy" is doing really well in Itunes . Congratulations
for that ! Will be a physical release for the single or only is for
digital download ?
This will only be a digital download, but if people buy a lot, we can afford to release a physical album someday. But right now it looks like we will only release digital stuff.
It peaked at top 30 on iTunes the first day, but people couldn't buy from iTunes all over the world, so I decided to release it on Amazon as well and today it is available there as well, so get your own copy of Daddys little boy in your local Amazon Store.
- Are you recording more new songs ? Can you tell us something about them ?
The new songs are really good and I hope people can hear that it's our own sound. The lyrics are both simple pop lyrics and also about stuff like the environment problems we have in the world, which is something I care about. So it feels a lot singing about it.
- When are you planning release the brand new album of "Grand Pop
Station" ?
Like I said earlier, this will be a digital release only. But if people buy our single, we might have enough money to print real cd's as well. But there might be other solutions as well that we are thinking about.
- Any working title for the album ?
Funny, I thought about that yesterday and just haven't started thinking about it yet. So, the answer must be no. I need to start thinking...
- Are you planning go out on tour with the album ? we hope so!
So do we. We really hope that people buy and like our music and that people around the world will ask their local radio stations to play our songs. Then wwe might come and play. We would really like to take GPS on tour. Great music, great band and great fans. Band Info:

He was in shock,as he said: Marie looks terribly great,she's like an angel!He couldn't stop to crying and Marie hold to him really hard.he expressed how much he love her.In a moment Cris took a picture that he brought for Marie's autograph.But he saw to Oscar and went for him (Cristian met to Oscar in 2007 and took a pic with him in the Marie's front door house) Cristian started to talk with Mike & Oscar and gave to them some presents sent for some friends from Argentina.Suddenly he realized someone is touching his back.He turned around and it was Marie!! She said: Hey,here is your pic with autograph!! very funny!Then Nelida was her dream came true. She met Roxette after 10 years!! She was talking with Marie and Per about her little child called. Facundo.She explained to Marie & Per that Facundo loves Roxette! Specially the song: Opportunity Nox.As facundo call it: "Mekiu" (he's only 5 years old and "mekiu" is the part where Per sings: When i met u,when i met you) And Per & Marie laughted tenderly.Per did a leif in a paper for Facundo and Marie her autograph.Then Per watching to the Nelida's cam said: "Hello Facundo! We hope you have a great life! We love you"Eloy had his opportunity and said to Marie:Marie, this is the first time I meet you and I just gotta say that you are really beautiful. The argentiean fans had an exclusive meet & great with Roxette in Frankfurt Dec 5th.
The meet & greet in Frankfurt was arranged for some lucky guys.Most of them from Argentina.
The lucky ones were: Silvana, Cristian, Nelida, Eloy, Alejandro, Myriam, Soledad, Diana, Laura, Qrox, Roxana, Juanjo, Claudia (all of them from Argentina) Andreas, MARIA, Konstantinos, Ketsetzi (Greece)
The meet was really A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!
Marie was in a PERFECT MOOD!! She was extremely kind and nice as always.She smiled ALL the time.Per & Marie really enjoyed to meet their fans. They received letters & presents.
Marie & Per signed some stuff and took pix with all and every fan. Everybody was shocked with the gorgeous marie.All of them think that Marie looks BETTER than ever!!
The fans said thanx to Marie for comeback with Roxette!!
And said how much we missed and NEEDED to Roxette.
Silvana in a moment of true deep emotion,told to Marie: "Marie i love you with all my heart & soul,i need u so much.I've missed you so much all those rough years,don't leave me anymore" And started to crying (she didn't want to say that,but was her heart speaking) And Marie hold to her really hard through her chest and staring at her eyes say to her: " I didn't leave you - I'm feeling ok now.I'm feeling great!"
Then Juanjo became his dream true.Thanked to Marie for all those greatest years.And thanked to her because he met his beloved boyfriend thanks to Roxette.Marie smiled and caressed his face tenderly. More about this magical M&G will come...

Roxette is back in Stuttgart. At the end of next year the duo released their first album in nine years. It reveals Per Gessle of the newspaper during the band's current tour with the "Night of the Proms 2009".
Good feeling. "It feels amazing," says Per Gessle on the next album to be recorded in Stockholm and in Österlen.
- I have already written 14 new songs. Two more and we have a disc, "Per is on the cell phone before Marie & him appear on stage in Stuttgart.
Now it becomes a reality. The first completely newly recorded Roxette album since "Room Service" 2001.
- It feels great, admits Per.
Studio time is booked in the spring of Atlantis and the Polar Studio in Stockholm and with Christoffer Lundquist down Österlen where Gessle has recorded his latest album as a solo artist and with Son of a Plumber..
- Since Marie wanted to put the song in Stockholm, we chose to do so.
With the tour are studio equipments, so Per, Marie, Christopher and Clarence Öfwerman between gigs have been in the business with the new material.
- We test ourselves with different arrangements and so put Marie on vocals. It's funny how any time and Marie really passionate for it.
He describes the upcoming album with a working title of Roxette in 2010, "has not come up with something else, like a modern version of 21-year-old breakthrough album" Look Sharp! ".
- Perhaps not too much synthesizers. But just in production with a lot of machines, but with all the instruments, everything is clearly audible. Idiot Clearly, as Clarence puts it.
Of the on going "Night of the Proms" tour makes Roxette tonight in Frankfurt on 30th gig of a total of 42 years ending in Dortmund on 20 December.
- It is a rather strange concept with a mix of rock, pop and classical. But for us it's a perfect start, because we only run five songs, "says Per.
He refers to Alan Parsons (Project) is now on the trip while the harmonica legend Toots Thielemans formerly belonged to the 200 men (!) Big tour company, including a full symphony orchestra.
But what is about a new Roxette tour?
there has been a tremendous response, both publicly and in the media, and thus a very emotional journey, as we have encountered old Roxette fans from around the world and simultaneously a new audience.
It was in connection with that Per was on his way to a press conference at "Night of the Proms" in 2002 which shocked the news reached him - Marie Fredriksson had collapsed because of a later discovered brain tumor.
Everything collapsed. And then, nobody could believe that the duo would be on the same stage again.
But step by step, Marie, after having overcome the disease, fought back and now the dream a reality.
- It's been a long road, but now that it gets easier and better to bring the texts and it shows really how Marie enjoying every moment, describing Per.
Therefore, all also want to hasten slowly in case of a Roxette tour on their own again.
- The next step would possibly be 45-minutes gigs. But the concerts in nearly two hours, still feels too long.
At the same time believe they have discovered a greater interest in Roxette again, where even the "old foxes", guitarist Jonas Isacsson (part of the whole ensemble) and drummer Pelle Alsing included.
- Yes, it feels as if it played more Roxette again compared to several years ago and that we are timely. I received an email from Anders Herrlin past which are in New Zealand. He said that there Roxette was played several times a day and he took nothing ... Per laughs.
But so does Roxette after "Wish I Could Fly" - "the only song that was written for strings and this is really powerful" - in the first act, then four U.S. ones to deliver in the second section, "The Look", " It must have been love, "Joyride" and "Listen to your heart."
Or as Per is not without a certain pride Notes:
- There is not anyone who can do it ...
But then it is understood that the voice is also to hold. Therefore, it became doctors and hormone cortisone drip (!) To get the energy to continue the tour.
- To set up is not an option. I mean, we're talking about an audience of 620 000 persons. It is even bigger than our golden tour in 2004 when it was half a million.
